Expected Student Outcomes

By completing Tracking Trains activities in this site students are expected to:

  • gain educational benefits through participation in safety related activities and engaging in learning experiences.
  • contribute to community safety and act in ways that will keep themselves and others from harm.
  • become a contributing member in a global community whose culture revolves around knowledge and understanding relating to the safe use of New South Wales State railways
  • develop a growing awareness of RailCorp, safety, history, timetables, development and environmental considerations

These expected student learnings will be achieved in a fun, interactive and non threatening environment.

Tracking Trains will target the following KLA's

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education

Personal Safety: The safety and security of children is enhanced when they can identify situations where their personal safety may be at risk and use strategies to protect themselves. Activities in this site will encourage students to develop a responsibility to contribute to community safety and act in ways that will keep them from harm.

English

  • use email and internet sources to request and receive information
  • access and interpret a wider range of internet / computer texts and graphics
  • use multiple pathways to read electronic texts

Mathematics

  • use 24hr time and am pm notation to read, construct and interpret timetables
  • use train timetables correctly
  • calculate solutions to problems including money and time

Technology

  • navigate through a site to gain information
  • use the internet

Whole Class focus

Tracking Trains covers syllabus outcomes in many stages of Human Society and It's Environment, English, Mathematics, PDHPE and Technology.
