Target Group

The target group is Stage 3. In most cases this will equate to Stages two and three of the state syllabus. The structure and activities that make up this site will allow easy expansion to include other target groups.


Activity: How much time?

This activity is based on students navigating the internet and accessing real-life train timetables to calculate the length of train journeys. The activity complements existing units of work in schools and contributes to the students’ experience using real-life situations.

Mathematics K-6

Stage 2 Stage 3
WM 2.6 uses available technology to help in the solution of mathematical problems

N 2.8 uses number skills to solve real-life problems (whole numbers only).

WM 3.6 selects appropriate technology and uses it to help carry out mathematical investigations

M 3.9 uses 24 hour time and am and pm notation to read, construct and interpret timetables and timelines in real-life situations

N 3.6 selects and uses appropriate mental, written and calculator techniques to approximate and calculate solutions to problems involving whole numbers, money and decimal fractions.
